Consider the stories we hold dearest in the Bible. Noah built an ark without a rain cloud in sight. Abraham packed up everything he had and set out without any idea where he was going. Peter stepped out of a boat onto the water. On every occasion, obedience went against human perception, yet the result showed God’s power, faithfulness, and glory.

If He did it for them, He can surely do it for you.

3. Lean into Prayer and Confirmation

The matter that appears in God’s instruction does not seem logical to ignore wisdom, but rather to seek His wisdom more deeply. Pray for clarity. Ask Him to confirm it through His Word, a sense of peace, or godly counsel. The Holy Spirit is faithful to guide us when we ask with a sincere heart.

It’s not about blind action. It’s about spiritually sensitive obedience.

4. Act, Even in Small Steps

Obedience doesn’t always require a giant leap. It often begins with a small yes. Call that person. Forgive that offense. Apply for that opportunity. Share that word of encouragement. Each step of obedience builds our trust muscles for the next one.

Remember: partial obedience is still disobedience. Take the step, even if it’s just one.

5. Trust That the Outcome Is God’s Responsibility

Sometimes, we hold back obedience because we fear the result. What people will think, what we might lose, or what might go wrong. But when God gives an instruction, the outcome isn’t up to us. It’s up to Him. Our job is faithfulness; His job is fruitfulness.

Even if we don’t see the “why” immediately, obedience opens the door for God to work in ways we can’t imagine.

Final Thoughts

Obeying God when it doesn’t make sense requires surrender, but that surrender always leads to deeper intimacy, purpose, and peace. I’ve learned this over and over again behind the wheel as a bus operator. God’s promptings often seemed inconvenient or strange, but they were never without impact.

So today, if He’s asking you to step out, forgive, stay, move, speak, or be still, even if it doesn’t make sense, say yes.

Because obedience doesn’t always make sense to us, but it always makes sense to God.
